New Heli to be seen soon at Ashhurst

Hi Guys.

Glenn here. I am setting up a club trainer/test heli for friends of mine importing them into NZ.

You may have heard of them. The Compass line of heli's and specifically the one I have is called a knight 3D.
This will be Buddy Boxed to help newbies but also it can be flown by anyone interested in testing the heli to decide whether they may like to invest in one.

I have no commercial interests in the heli except that I will be setting it up at a good deal for me with friendly parts support. Of course this comes at a cost and that is that I will show it off and allow the heli to be test flown.

This isn't so I can fly a cheap heli but for a few other reasons.

1. I like helping others to get into the hobby and get enjoyment out of it
2. I want to prevent people making mistakes and buying the wrong gear
3. I want to help my friends get the heli out there into the market (these guys have a very well known shop so parts support will be as good as raptor and trex)
4. I believe the heli offers great value for money
5. Oh and I get to play with a new toy!

I will be doing a review after the build (which is mainly built out of the box but I will be tearing it down and rebuilding to get a good look at it) and part two will be after test flying.

So as a bit of a heads up the heli is built as a 3D heli however it is also supposed to exhibit very stable flight with axial rolls and accurate fidget free manouvres.

This is no surprise as the heli has a very much Hirobo presence to it.
Hey you could go buy a trex600N and they are great however some guys like a more relaxing model and even though the 600N has fantastic "pop" it also comes at a price and that is it isn't as stable and tends to wander around a bit and is a little twitchy.  It does excellent 3D but not so great for a casual fly or fast forward flight.  How the heck would I know?  Well I have had a 600n and have a 700n.

The Knight3D is supposed to be able to do hard 3d if you want it yet be a pussycat to fly with very stable hover and non pitchy fast forward flight.  Sounds perfect for a beginner that wants to do any sort of flying right through to all out aerobatics.

It has a lot of metal parts on the heli that look well machined and also has Vibration damping built into the motor mount setup.

Sounds like an expensive machine but thats just it.... the great value here is that it should closely tie into the cost of owning a trex600 although parts prices are still to be announced at this stage.  In these times having a low cost but excellent machine is a great find.

One of the more challenging problems when helping others is trying to figure out how to best setup their machines and give good advice.  It's made easier when you know the machine well. So having a good cost effective heli with experienced local help and NZ parts support is worth a lot to help maximise enjoyment.

Those of you with other standard Heli's that may want to move to an up spec'd heli to take you to the next level may be interested in how this turns out.  I'll let you know about the cost of regular crash spares when available. Meantime, await my build review and I'll have it at the field reasonably soon.

See ya
Glenn
